The sale of train tickets began at counter of the railway stations across the country on Tuesday after a two-month closure due to coronavirus or Covid-19 pandemic.

At the same time, online train tickets are being sold.

The sale of tickets started at 8:00am today at all the railway station counters, including Kamalapur Railway Station in the capital. Passengers can collect tickets following health guidelines.

In a notification, Bangladesh Railway informed that the trains are running with half passengers of the total capacity as per the government instruction to avoid the risk of Covid-19 infection.

Some 25 percent tickets are being sold through mobile apps while rest 25 percent are at counters.

Accoring to the notification, unsold tickets can be purchased through online and counters before the journey of 48 hours.

In addition, intercity train tickets purchased within stipulated time can be returned.

Bangladesh Railway issued a number of instructions to operate train services amid the pandemic. The instructions include: tickets without seat cannot be sold, passenger can’t enter station or travel without tickets,  different doors will have to use for entry and exit and use of mask is mandatory for the journey by train.

Due to rise of Covid-19 infection, movement of all kinds of passenger trains of Bangladesh Railway were closed from April 5 following government instruction.

On May 23, the government instructed authorities to ply public transports at half capacity from the following day.
